Introduction:
The irruption of artificial intelligences in our advanced communities, and more specifically in educational changes is bringing unprecedented changes in the traditional conception, planning and execution of the teaching-learning processes.
Beside working as a full-time teacher assistant which is not subject to exhaustion and has a potential to complete both mechanic and complex processes in short periods of time, the outreach of the practical application of AI in university learning environments is hard to discern.
By contrast, the positive effects of the implementation of these technologies in university lessons may be well appreciated, as they permit a customisation of the learning process which falls beyond human teachers’ range of action.
Research goals:
The main goal of this conference paper is to pose an innovation proposal for the implementation of the framework of Universal Design for Learning in English Applied Linguistics university degrees and Bachelor Programmes with the assistance of language generating ChatGPT Artificial intelligence technology.
Discussion and results:
The exportation of the Universal design concept from architecture, where it was deployed to defend the creation of dwelling spaces with any user profile in mind, no matter their physical circumstances or medical conditions, revolutionised teaching and moved the focus from disability to every students’s brain and body unicity. In this innovation proposal, a simulated teaching-learning situation, as oriented to an English B2 reading comprehension dynamic was recreated to provide specific ChatGPT solutions for the catering of diverse multiple intelligences which may govern the understanding and cognition of the alluded group’s pupils. Information presentation formats will be the pivotal point for the facilitation to particular students’ learning styles.
Concluding remarks:
As defended in this innovation proposal, language generating AI ChatGPT may be of significant assistance in the in-design adaptation of learning input materials, which will ultimately contribute to the customisation of the learning-teaching processes to every student’s particular needs and information processing strengths.
